Once you have had that perfect look on your nails, it will not last forever. After 3 to four weeks of application, you will start seeing an overgrowth that simply means that you need another dip powder finish. Before you get it, however, the initial dip powder layer must be removed. Being a professional or even a beginner, you need to know how to remove dip powder from your nails. The easy application process might not be similar to the removal procedure. However, this article sheds light into how you can remove dip powder.
Ease of application has been the main thing that makes dip powders very popular among those who know the after results. Regardless, the removal process of SNS dip powder is also easy which means that you have nothing to worry about. It is also quick hence you do not have to worry about wasting a lot of time. It is one of those activities that you can easily perform at home. One of the processes that you can use to remove it is through the use of aluminium foil or acetone. Moreover, you can opt to use acetone soak and still achieve the same results. It does not matter on which method you use but the results should be strong, healthy and happy nails.
Using Aluminum Foil
This is a mechanical process that involves removing the top layer on the nails by sanding it down using an aluminium foil. The top layer is a shiny layer that gives your nails the elegant look. This is the layer obtained from either OPI dipping powder, sky dipping powder and SNS nails powder among other dipping powders. This layer does not have to be bitten off by teeth neither do you have to use a kitchen knife to scrub it off. It is essential to use an aluminium foil for this process. Make sure that you thoroughly file each of the nails and with efficiency, the powder will come off. Note that as you file, the process should be even.
When you are done with the file, the second step involves soaking a cotton ball in pure acetone. Ensure that each of the balls fit the size of your fingernails. This means that you will have to cut the cotton into balls the size of your fingernails. The acetone should be 100% pure. Note that the acetone in the balls should not be excess to start dripping from the balls. Rather, it should be plenty and enough to soak the nails.
Take a foil and wrap all the nails such that the cotton balls are on top of the nails. The essence of this is to hold the acetone soaked. Make sure to wrap the nails with an aluminium foil ensuring that the foil holds the balls in place. Make sure that the wrapping foil that you use covers a significant part of the finger and the fingernails. Then wait for at least 10 to 15 minutes for the nails to get soaked in acetone. Give the balls enough time without rushing to remove the foil until the acetone has completed its job. When the given time is complete, press the balls on the nails such that they wipe off the remaining material from the nails. You can file any residue after you remove the balls.
Soaking in Acetone
Another way to remove the powder is to soak the nails in acetone. This first process involves filing the nails evenly and thoroughly to remove the shiny material. Find a large bowl that can fit a smaller one in it. Fill the large one with hot water. You can then have two or one smaller bowl in the large one. The smaller bowl should be able to accommodate all the fingers. You can then fit your hands in each bowl for soaking. Have a paper towel that is soaked in acetone and places it in the smaller dish. You can then soak the nails in the smaller dish with that has a paper towel soaked in 100% pure acetone. Soak the nails for 10 to 15 minutes. When the time has elapsed, you can then remove the nails from the bowl and wipe them off using a towel. You can file any residue of the powder.
In both cases, you will need to have a file and acetone. You just have to follow the procedure of using an aluminium foil or soaking the fingers in acetone. The two processes are very easy once you acquire the needed materials. It simply means that you can easily perform the process at home without having to spend a lot of money going to have it performed on you in the salon.
